| Rating | Range | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Worth improving | below 45 µmol/L | Low. Possible iron overload, chronic disease or inflammation; look at ferritin and TSAT. |
| Good | 45 – 72 µmol/L | TIBC within the expected range. |
| Worth improving | 72 µmol/L and above | Raised. Often in iron deficiency; look at ferritin and TSAT. |
