In short
- Biological age shows how old your body is — not just what your birth date says.
- We estimate it from blood markers and fitness (it is an estimate of a trend, not a diagnosis).
- It can be lower or higher than your calendar age — and it can be slowed down.
- The strongest levers: metabolism, exercise, sleep, not smoking, weight.
Two people of the same calendar age can be very different in “age” inside. Biological age tries to measure that difference. The good news: you can influence it.
What biological age is
You cannot change your calendar age. Biological age is an estimate of how well your systems are working — heart, vessels, metabolism, inflammation — expressed in “years”. If the indicators look good, your biological age can be lower than your real age. If not, it can be higher. It is an estimate of risk and trend, not an exact number.
How we estimate it
Most often from a combination of blood markers (metabolism, inflammation, lipids, blood count). Where needed, we add fitness indicators such as VO₂max. An algorithm turns these indicators into an estimate. Because it is a model, it is most useful as a trend: is the number moving down as your habits change?
Which indicators matter most
| Area | Markers / indicators |
|---|---|
| Metabolism | glucose, HbA1c |
| Heart & vessels | ApoB, lipids |
| Inflammation | hs-CRP |
| Fitness | VO₂max, body composition |
How to slow down biological age
1) Sort out your metabolism
Stable blood sugar and favourable lipids are among the strongest levers.
2) Move — aerobic and strength
Raising VO₂max and muscle mass directly lowers risk.
3) Sleep, no smoking, healthy weight
Good-quality sleep, quitting smoking and losing excess fat lower inflammation and “rejuvenate” the indicators.
The most important message: biological age is not destiny. A few months of steady habits can already move the indicators the right way. That is the best motivation to keep the changes going.
How Blood Lab 360 helps
From your markers we estimate your biological age and show which indicators push it up. We prepare a plan and then track your progress over time.
Frequently asked questions
What is biological age?
An estimate of how old your body is based on health indicators, independent of calendar age.
How is it calculated?
From a combination of blood markers and fitness, using an algorithm. It is an estimate of a trend, not a diagnosis.
Can I lower it?
Often yes — with a well-managed metabolism, exercise, sleep, not smoking and a healthy weight.
