A secondary treatment target per ESC/EAS; also useful when triglycerides are elevated.
| Rating | Range | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Good | below 2.6 mmol/L | Atherogenic cholesterol is low. |
| Worth improving | 2.6 – 3.4 mmol/L | Slightly elevated — lower LDL. |
| Talk to a doctor | 3.4 mmol/L and above | Elevated — cardiac risk; seek advice. |
Why it matters
A secondary treatment target per ESC/EAS; also useful when triglycerides are elevated.
If it’s low
Low non-HDL is favorable — few atherogenic particles.
If it’s high
High non-HDL means many harmful particles in total — it tracks the overall atherogenic burden on your vessels well.
What to do
Same as with LDL: less saturated fat, more fiber and movement, controlled triglycerides and weight.
